No More Excuses Because You Can Exercise WITH Baby!

Most new moms struggle to lose the extra pounds they put on during pregnancy after their baby is born. Getting rid of that muffin top, is hard. It is stubborn! But, to be fair – it took you several months to get it during your pregnancy, and it’s going to take as long, if not longer, to get rid of it.

During your pregnancy, that extra weight is a good thing, since it helps baby grow and develop. Afterward, it just sits on you and makes you uncomfortable. To top it all off, you might find that you can’t lose that weight by only dieting – that is, if you’re breastfeeding. When you’re nursing, you need to eat enough to produce enough milk to breastfeed your baby.

Fortunately, there’s an easy way to counter those unwanted pounds and bond with your little one at the same time. You can exercise WITH Baby.

There are two ways of doing this. The easy way, and the hard way!

Exercise with Baby: The Easy Way

Babywearing is THE easiest way! If you’re already using a baby carrier to carry your baby – you’re losing baby pounds, without trying.  No need for a babysitter. No need for a gym membership either. Just carry your baby, wherever you go.

When you think about it, exercising while baby wearing just makes sense. Your little one is a solid weight to carry around, and low-impact exercise like walking is very easy to do with a little extra weight strapped to your back or chest, or slung across your shoulders, in a ring sling. And if you need to take the walk anyway, why not take it with your baby, and help them start seeing the world around them? You can also do simple stretches and squats while carrying your little one, provided your carrier is built right.

But adding baby wearing to your exercise routine doesn’t just benefit you. It’s also a great way to emotionally bond with your little one. Babies who are held more often hit their developmental milestones sooner, are easier to calm, and get more engaged with the world around them, since they can see a lot more of it from your hip than they can from the inside of a stroller. In addition, many carriers are adjustable through toddlerhood, so you can use them to stay in shape and bond with your child for a few years, and maybe even again with your next baby!

If that muffin top on your belly is a little too stubborn, you’ll have to step it up a bit, Mom.

Exercise with Baby: The Hard Way

You can work-out with baby, with a little help from YouTube (see below) or an “exercise with baby, DVD“.

You can do it from the comfort of your home, and if you’re doing the workouts on Youtube, it won’t even cost you anything other than your time and sweat.

Sweat is a hard price to pay. No doubt. But what’s great here is that once again, you exercise with your baby, and you get the added benefit of bonding with your baby. PLUS, there is, of course, the added bonus of getting rid of that little muffin top that you hate.
